About
In a village of La Mancha, the name of which I have no desire to call to mind, there lived not long since one of those gentlemen that keep a lance in the lance-rack, an old buckler, a lean hack, and a greyhound for coursing. ” (excerpt from “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha” by Miguel de Cervantes, 1605)
Four hundred years ago, Don Quixote sallied forth from his La Mancha village in search of adventure. Wearing a rusty suit of armor and a bashed-up helmet, he partook of a meager meal of salt-cod at a roadside inn, and was unceremoniously be-knighted by the innkeeper with a thwack on the shoulder. The year 2005 marks the IV Centenary of the first publication of Don Quixote de la Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
Throughout the book, Cervantes feeds us morsels about life and food at the end of the 16th century. Don Quixote proves an excellent guide to the foods and cooking of present-day La Mancha, for the lay of the land has changed very little.
We propose beggining a trip of adventures in company of all those that sit devotion or simple curiosity for the Mediterranean Diet, and at the same time for the simplicity and the gift for the palate that offers a good Spanish Tapa!
Just as Quixote’s squire, Sancho Panza, always had a good advice for our Ingenious Gentleman, we would like you to be our travel partner around the world and give us advice about everything related to food you think it should be tasted at least once in your life !
Welcome again and thank you for accompanying in our next trip!
